Mesa Crime Supression

video
So I went to the protest point for th sheriffs crime suppression sweep yesterday and was really unimpressed. I talked to a couple cops who seemed supportive but inconvenienced. There was a Mexican radio station out their pumping up probably 200 pro illegal supporters and about 8 pro Joe folks were also out. Their was alot of chanting and hooting coming from the portable stage the radio station brought out but the pro Joe folks had a quiet solitude holding their signs and flags. Their were probably 100+ mesa police on hand incase the mob turned against the 8 folks sitting their. My thought on the matter is the sheriff would be better off doing these quietly. then publicly announcing the results, Doing this would allow those hundred+ officers to do something more pressing rather than guarding an imprompto concert.

Phoenix Fire

A co worker snapped this on his blackberry last night. In phoenix a good 20-30 miles away a huge brush fire is burning, winds have blanketed the valley with smoke. This is the downside of the monsoon, big fires started by lightening strikes.

Sheriff Joe

Joe Arpio is our home town celebrity sheriff and today he made the news again for the illegal immigrant round-ups. The photo of him on the news story was classic enough to pull out gimp.....

We love you Joe :)

Supreme Court Overturns D.C. Gun Ban

What a great day for us gun toten nut jobs and Americans in general. My thought with the current status of the supreme court and how closely divided between liberal and conservative judges the last thing you want to see go before the court is a case involving guns, however I think this make up makes the ruling that much stronger. If we had a bunch of right wing judges on the bench and this passed their would be some question to the validity. In a country that is turning more and more socialist every day It is good to see that we still have some rights. I see this as hope for the socialist republic of California Maybe soon more than criminals will have guns. This is what concerns me about gun laws. They keep honest people honest and empower the dishonest who know you are defenseless. In Arizona you don't know who has a gun. I think this makes folks think twice before doing something stupid, or drives them to places where they know folks are unarmed and wont fight back. The goal is to remove the blind spots where people are defenseless and make all criminals think twice. We can pass gun control laws all day but all they do is keep guns away from honest people. The folks who you dont want to have the guns WILL STILL HAVE THEM.

Eat that Jared!!

Ktar.com-Va. man sheds 80 pounds eating at McDonald's

I personally like subway and eat there as much as possible and haven't lost a pound. If McDonald's didn't make my stomach turn I would have an alternative. Maybe a combination of the sick feeling and eating like the guy in the story above I could regain my girlish figure.... heck why risk it...

I think i got some Berkly on me.

Wow so the first post lets discuss something thats been bugging me. I am a member of th Asterisk community and also as part of my job I work with dozens of projects that directly relate. I like to consider myself a friend to these projects outside the capacity of my employment and spend a bit of personal time supporting people outside the scope of what my employment requires. I am a young "old" Linux guy. I an not as seasoned as some but I have been involved in Linux since before it was "cool to be free." I have a moral compass that told me why pirate software when you can get it for free, The same compass says don't be a mooch give back. So I will admit I am cheap so it is easier to give time than cash. I have been involved with a hand full of Linux projects and got my start with asterisk by answering a classified ad that said "Linux nut wanted" I was like whoa I can get paid to do what I currently do free... Score.... Anyhow this is how I am where I am. I do get paid to work on Linux, specifically with Asterisk. This said I didn't start working in open source for money, and if I change jobs I will still do the same work because it is a passion. I think some folks are losing their fire due to others getting paid. Here is the deal if you started working with OSS to get rich maybe free software wasn't the right route. If you are mad cause someone else is using your work maybe free software isn't for you. Open Source is an ECO System and some folks take more than they give. Some folks go in to the stream bottle the free water and market as glacier juice and make a fortune. This is sort of the way it is. You have the opportunity to go to the same stream bottle it up and call it heavens rain. You can even fork the stream so it comes to you. The point is Free software is not only free as in beer but is also freedom meaning people can do whatever they like with it with in the confines of the GPL this means call it johnny's bad arse interface and leave the credits only in the code as required leaving no one the wiser. Weather this is good or bad doesn't much matter. I understand "credit" doesn't pay the bills. I understand you have thousands of hours invested. Either come up with ways to pay the bills like so many others have such as mozilla, RedHat, Canocal, and keep doing what you love or get a job and do it for free cause you love it. or the third option is Stop doing it. I would hate to see any project go down but seriously if you cant pay the bills, and you cant get another job that pays the bills and continue then so be it. Open source should be a passion and money is polluting the waters worse those who are just in it for the money are flip flopping to which side will make them the most and stirring up crap for those who simply love to code. I imagine if someone was poking me with a stick saying see what they are doing with your work, see see see I might be angry too. It is as simple as this in life you get ahead by changing the circumstances not by whining and making excuses about how others are tearing you down.

The difference between a winners and losers is make excuses why they can't winners find ways to just do it.
